Lead Preschool Teacher

Hi, my name is Ms. Rachel and I am a Lead Teacher here at Carlsbad Country Day School.

My journey towards becoming an educator began while attending a performing arts secondary school in southeast San Diego. I created a puppet show geared towards children age Kindergarten through 3rd grade and traveled to various elementary schools to perform the show. Performing for the children sparked my desire to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education. I remember how rewarding it felt to be their main focus, having them engaged; watching, learning, laughing.

the past 8 years, I have now been working with children under the age of five. I engage on their level and speak to them about anything they are willing to share. Children learn from their environment and speak from the heart. It amazes me what children are capable of when given the right tools. As Lead Teacher, it is my goal to ensure we utilize those tools and cultivate the brightest learning environment possible. I truly love stimulating young curious minds.

Before joining the CCDS family I taught at a private preschool in La Jolla, CA as their Lead Teacher in the Pre-K room. At that time I also went to school and received my Child Development Teacher Permit from the State of California.

My spirited 2 year old daughter, Rilo, attends CCDS. She brightens up the room with her pigtails and superhero shirt. When she and I are not enjoying what Carlsbad has to offer, we explore hiking paths around San Diego county. Staying active and healthy is central to my parenting theories.
